Reasons I recommend yoga to lots (not all) my clients

1. Breathwork - yoga teaches you how to control your breath. This is invaluable for calming your nervous system and managing anxiety at a physiological level. It can improve anxiety, stress and panic. 

2. Movement - yoga is a physical movement that releases physical tightness and tension from the body. This can help support relaxation and reduce physical pain and discomfort. Yoga can raise our heart rate, leading to a release of endorphins and reduction of cortisol (stress hormone). 

3. Meditation - yoga teaches us how to tune into our thoughts and be present. A yoga class often involves a guided meditation at the end and even these 3-5 minutes can help teach us how to tune into and calm our mind. 

4. Stillness - me and my clients live life at full speed. Constantly bombarded by external stimuli (noise, new information, demands on our attention). Yoga gives us an opportunity to find space to be still and quiet in a world that does not support this!
